Repeat this entire installation process for each of the remaining steel fence posts. Shovel 5 inches of loose gravel into the hole around the circumference of the steel post. Tap the driver firmly several times on the top of the post to push the post several inches into the ground. Grasp the post driver handles firmly and bring the driver up into the air. Check that the post is level and adjust it if necessary. Slip a manual post driver over the top of the post and grasp the driver handles to pull the post upright. Press the base of the steel post against the ground at the first post location. Pull the post driver down firmly to slam the top of the driver down onto the top of the post. Tamp the gravel flat around the post with a tamping rod. Scoop 2 to 4 inches of loose soil into the hole on top of the gravel; tamp the soil down firmly with the tamping rod. Repeat the alternating layers of gravel and soil until you've backfilled the entire hole. Repeat this pounding process to drive the steel post 12 to 18 inches into the ground. Repeat this installation process for each remaining steel post.
